The Te Iho Whenua, the School of Geography seeks to appoint a Professional Practice Fellow in Planning to teach in our highly successful NZPI accredited Master of Planning (MPlan) degree.Te Iho Whenua, the School of Geography at the University of Otago is nationally and internationally recognised for the quality of our graduates and the impact of our research. The School supports graduate and postgraduate programmes in Physical and Human Geography and Environmental Management, as well as Planning and International Development.Sustainability is an important research focus in the School, and the School hosts and supports the Centre for Sustainability. We mentor students who conduct excellent Honours, Masters, and PhD research. Our aim is to deliver globally relevant teaching and research from our unique location in Aotearoa New Zealand.The role/te mahiAs a Professional Practice Fellow you will teach a paper on Planning Practice and Law, teach students in a group research project working with local planning agencies.You will also take an active role in managing and co-ordinating the MPlan degree programme, and mentoring students into the workforce. The role will also involve teaching into other aspects of environmental management and planning at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the School as required.Successful candidates will have:Planning practice experience of at least 5 years in the profession.An NZPI accredited planning degree (or similar) and be a current member of the NZPI.Ability to teach current legal and professional practice suitable for planning practitioners.Strong connections with planning professionals and practitioners.Ability to collaborate with planning agencies in the delivery of teaching and field schools.Commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.This is a permanent, part time (0.4 FTE) position, located in Dunedin.You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position.The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate step on the Professional Practice Fellow salary scale based on skills, experience and qualifications.
