Due to internal promotion, we are looking for a Production Technician to join our Hydro South team based in Taupo.
The Production Technician is an integral member of a dedicated team that maintains, operates, manages, and continuously improves Mercury's Hydro generation assets. Your role is designed to ensure our assets are operated and maintained safely and all staff and contractors on site adhere to safety, environmental and operating policies and procedures.
This role is a site-based day work position reporting to the Site Lead. You will be responsible for facilitating a safe operation and maintenance of site assets through operational activities (shut down, restoration and isolation of plant), managing work control documents, conducting station rounds and conducting plant maintenance (planning, supervising and executing). At times this position may be required to provide support outside of primary sites.
The responsibilities of our operations-based roles include:
Ensuring optimal, efficient and safe plant operations
Maintaining a key focus on Health and Safety and risk management
Work control and permit to work planning, issue and management
Plant isolation, application & removal of safety measures and restoration from maintenance
Providing first response in incident and emergency situations
Ensuring compliance with statutory legislation
Collection and entering of data for plant performance evaluation
Proactively identifying performance issues and identifying process improvement opportunities
Conducting regular inspections and audits for safety, compliance, reliability, and quality
Completing some maintenance works and supervision
We are looking for:
Trade or engineering Qualification (Electrical/mechanical or equivalent) preferred
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in heavy industry, with Electricity Generation Industry experience preferred
A passion for Renewable Geothermal Energy
Operation of hydro Plant and operational systems an advantage
Excellent organisational skills coupled with confident communication
Ability to lead and direct groups of people
