At the heart is our purpose which pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.Our Opportunity:Known internally as Geothermal Controller Team Lead, this role sits within the heart of the generation team leading a new way of working and has a real opportunity to create and operate a new team while building the culture and being at the centre of our geothermal operations.In this role you'll be accountable for leading the team of 12 Geothermal controllers responsible for ensuring Geothermal Stations are safely operating at their technical limits. This team will remotely operate 4 geothermal power stations from the Nga Awa Purua site on a 24/7 basis, generating more than 350MW of base load renewable energy. The role is not designated to be on the shift roster as it designed to be the interface between the Geothermal Controller Team and the many support functions of the business.You'll play a key role linking together the sites and optimisation and reliability engineering team to ensure Mercury is continuously improving plant output and reliability.This role covers our geothermal generation sites in our central region (Rotokawa, Nga Awa Purua, Ngatamariki and Kawerau), close to both Taupo and Rotorua and the wonderful lifestyle that the region brings with easy access to lakes and forests to enjoy fishing, mountain biking, water sports and more. This role will offer you work / life balance, we ensure our generation sites are well-managed with strong health and safety policies to keep you safe.Mercury operates a flexible working environment and there is the opportunity to work with your manager to work hours that suit your lifestyle and provide a work/life balance, including 9 day fortnight.
