AH Gears is looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee our CNC and manual machine shop and our assembly team. The ideal candidate would have experience in both CNC and Manual machining, machining principles and methods, as well as production and lean manufacturing concepts. A desire to learn and grow in their role and a strong work ethic are critical. The production supervisor will report to the Group Operations Manager and work closely with the Mechanical Engineer.AH Gears is a New Zealand success story which has led it to being the go-to for ground precision gears, shafts, and gearbox assembly solutions in the Asia Pacific region. Recently we have been acquired by the Dodson Group which has filled our orderbook with work and has opened this position. The role would have you overseeing a team of approximately 10 staff and would give you the opportunity to work on components that end up in Audi R8s, Nissan GTRs and Corvette C8s to name a few!Duties of the role include:Working with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to stick to production schedules and ensure workflows through the shop.Leading and overseeing both the assembly team and team of machinists, setting out daily tasks to achieve and delivering daily, weekly and monthly feedback.Working with the quality control department and assisting in FAI and Non-Conformance reporting.Maintaining a clean and safe workplace in accordance with AH Gears policies and best practices.Ordering and coordinating material and tooling supplies with procurement/supply chain staff.Managing tasks in the engineering field, including both CNC and manual machines, fitting assembly, etc.Problem solving, solutions and results focused.Leading a team of diverse, skilled engineers.Able to adapt to workload demands.Committed to continuous improvement.Maintaining and enforcing safety standards in the workshop.Managing and improving workshop staff productivity.Requirements for the role:Trade qualified in machining or 5+ years' experience in a machine shop.Ability to accurately read and comprehend moderately complex technical material such as engineering drawings, work instructions, ISO procedures, etc.Knowledge of and ability to compute basic arithmetic skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals.Willingness to learn new practices and share knowledge.Strong health & safety practices.The role is full-time, 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday with overtime available.
