Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team. The Production Manager will be responsible for planning and organising production schedules, overseeing production control, and ensuring quality standards are met. This role requires in-depth industry knowledge, leadership skills, and a focus on compliance with New Zealand's regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and organising production schedules.
Assessing project and resource requirements.
Estimating, negotiating, and agreeing on budgets and timelines with clients and managers.
Ensuring full compliance with New Zealand food safety and hygiene standards.
Managing quality control and quality assurance processes to meet stringent regulatory and company standards.
Overseeing production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.
Managing the procurement of raw materials in line with budgetary constraints.
Overseeing logistics, including inventory management, material procurement, and delivery scheduling.
Supervising factory staff, conducting performance reviews, and organising training sessions.
Liaising with buyers, sales, and marketing teams to ensure smooth production flow and product delivery.
Overseeing the maintenance and repair of production equipment to minimise downtime.
Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes to optimise efficiency.
Developing, monitoring, and enforcing compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to production.
Maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene protocols within the production environment.
Key Terms of Employment:
Salary: NZD 180,000 – 185,000 per annum (gross).
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM.
Location: Takanini, Auckland.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required:
Minimum of Five Years of Experience in a production management role within the food manufacturing sector.
In-depth Knowledge of Food Manufacturing Operations , including an understanding of production workflows, optimisation techniques, and risk management in manufacturing environments.
Comprehensive Understanding of New Zealand Food Safety and Hygiene Standards —candidates must have up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, including the Food Act 2014, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Material Procurement and Logistics Management skills, with experience managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
Proven Leadership Skills —demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse production team, while fostering a collaborative environment.
Quality Control and Assurance Expertise to implement and maintain stringent product quality standards.
Strong Organisational Skills , with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Problem-solving Skills , particularly in troubleshooting production issues, implementing corrective actions, and minimising production interruptions.
Project Management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation.
Communication Skills to liaise with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and executive teams, as well as external suppliers and regulatory bodies.
IT Proficiency —familiarity with production management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to monitor production, inventory, and quality control metrics.
