Job Description About this opportunity We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in extrusion manufacturing, ideally within PET.
This role requires a specialist who not only understands the technical intricacies of extrusion processes but also has the people management skills necessary to lead and motivate the Extrusion Operations Team at our Wellington facility.
As the Production Manager, you will ensure the efficient management of resources, driving a world-class manufacturing environment focused on Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Ensure all H&S policies are observed & create an approach of responsibility and awareness for all employees.
Lead all technical and production functions of the extrusion department to ensure all products are manufactured efficiently and meet specifications.
Ensure QC systems are followed, and appropriate records are kept.
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
Ensure adequate competency of production staff through training on SOPs, toolbox talks, safety alerts so that process and products adhere to FSSC22000, HACCP, and food safety procedures.
Work with the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment is achieving high levels of reliability.
Your skills and experience To be successful in this role, you'll have: 10 years in a manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG (packaging, plastics or food industry) Strong Plastic Extrusion Experience, PET desirable.
Production management experience Experienced using production aspects of MRP systems and ability to learn new computer systems i.e.
SAP, Esker.
Strong Leadership Skills Ability to develop relationships and positively influence people Essential: Strong Mechanical aptitude and general understanding of engineering principles.
Desirable: Trade or degree qualified in Engineering related disciplines with related work experience in an operational environment.
