Product Management & Development (Marketing & Communications) Full time Location: Christchurch, Hamilton, or Timaru Reports to: General Manager Fortis is New Zealand's premier veterinary wholesaler, distinguished by our mission to deliver exceptional service through data-driven solutions and innovative practices. Role Purpose: The Product Manager is responsible for driving the growth of Fortis' exclusive veterinary pharmaceutical brands by developing and executing product strategies that align with the company's aggressive sales and margin targets. Working closely with the Commercial Manager and Sales team, this role will focus on identifying market opportunities, managing the lifecycle of products, and ensuring that our exclusive brands are positioned for success in a competitive market. Core Responsibilities: Product Strategy and Development: Develop and implement product strategies that drive growth for Fortis' exclusive brands. Ensure product offerings align with market needs and Fortis' overall commercial goals. Market Research and Opportunity Identification: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify opportunities for new products or enhancements to existing ones. Understand customer needs, competitor offerings, and emerging trends in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. Lifecycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept through to launch, growth, and eventual phase-out. Ensure timely introduction of new products while phasing out underperforming lines. Supplier and Vendor Relationships: Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source products that meet Fortis' quality and price standards. Negotiate terms that support both profitability and competitive pricing. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing, and Business Development teams to ensure alignment between product offerings and customer demand. Provide product training and support to the Sales team. Pricing and Profitability: Develop and implement pricing strategies that ensure competitive market positioning while driving margin growth. Monitor product performance and adjust pricing strategies as necessary to optimize profitability. New Product Launches: Lead the planning and execution of product launches, coordinating with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ensure seamless introductions. Define KPIs to measure the success of product launches. Customer Feedback and Improvement: Collect and analyse feedback from customers, using insights to drive product improvements and inform future product development. Act as a key liaison between the company and customers on product-related issues. Skills and Experience: Proven experience in product management, ideally within the pharmaceutical or veterinary industry. Strong market research and analytical skills to identify trends and opportunities for product growth. Experience in developing and executing product strategies, from concept through to launch. Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms with suppliers. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple product lifecycles simultaneously. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Demonstrated success in managing products that drive revenue and margin growth. Familiarity with ERP systems and the role they play in product management is advantageous. New Product Introduction: Successfully launch new products that meet customer needs and generate revenue. Supplier Relations: Secure favourable terms and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Market Insight: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the veterinary pharmaceutical market, identifying trends and opportunities for product innovation.
