The Role
In this pivotal role, you will manage our GeneMark products, ensuring they align with LIC's strategic objectives and generate value for NZ dairy farmers. Your responsibilities will include executing product roadmaps, defining product requirements, and collaborating with R&D, Operations, and other business units to effectively bring DNA-based products that assist Herd Improvement to market.
We have an ambitious growth strategy for our GeneMark business, and you will play a significant part in ensuring we achieve these goals.
Key Responsibilities include:
Product Management: Apply effective practices to identify and define solutions for customer problems, ensuring these solutions deliver value to our farmer shareholders and support our business objectives.
Technical knowledge: Have good knowledge of the DNA technology used in our GeneMark products and strong knowledge of dairy genetics to understand the on-farm impact of the products. Be able to communicate with Sales and farmers on the value generated from the products.
Business Acumen: Understand business objectives and constraints to guide product strategy and delivery. Manage risks, oversee planning, and consider financial implications for GeneMark.
Customer & Market Analysis: Provide deep knowledge of customer and user needs through customer interaction, data analysis, industry trend tracking, and competitive landscape assessment.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with LIC teams to ensure alignment on product strategy, roadmaps, and progress.
Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Sales to develop compelling go-to-market strategies and promotional materials.
Product Strategy: Develop a vision and strategic plan for GeneMark Genomics in collaboration with key stakeholders to deliver customer value and meet business objectives.
About You
With a strong product background and comprehensive understanding of dairy farmer needs, you'll utilise various product discovery techniques to align solutions with business objectives and capabilities. Leading by example, you'll foster a culture of customer empathy, shared responsibility, and collective success.
You will also confidently demonstrate:
Product Management: Expertise in product discovery and delivery, solving complex problems with data insights and sound judgment.
Dairy Sector or Genomics Expertise: Proficient in genomic and diagnostic technologies and principles of genetics to engage meaningfully with rural professionals.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage audiences effectively.
Commercial Acumen: Strategic mindset with a deep understanding of financial management, market research, and competitive analysis to drive revenue growth and product success.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with at all levels, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams.
