HiveLabs OÜ is looking for a mid-weight Product Designer to work remotely alongside our small but growing cross functional Product Team to build high quality web software.
24-month contract with option to extend Fully remote, with optional monthly co-working days in our Northcote (Victoria) co-working space. $700-900 AUD per day, dependent on skill level. 4 days a week. You'll get to choose when you work, but you will need to: Be present for core overlap days (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays); Be present for core overlap hours (10:00–15:00 Melbourne time); Be present for agreed-upon team meetings and discussions (which will be scheduled within core overlap hours); Be comfortable working with adult content and with marginalised communities, especially sex workers, neurodivergent people, and disabled people. Reports to our Lead Product Designer This role is only open to residents of Australia (excluding SA, QLD, and TAS), New Zealand, and Estonia who have the right to work in that location. This is a contract role and you must have or obtain appropriate business registration and the right to work in your country of residence. About this role Our Product Engineering team works on both external products for our users and internal products for our colleagues in other departments. We are looking for a Product Designer to focus on one of these roadmaps, working with Design and Engineering to establish projects & deliver high quality solutions end-to-end. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the overall user experience across that roadmap.
As a Product Designer, you will: Collaborate on design best practise with the Lead Product Designer. Utilise a customer-centric design methodology across the entire product lifecycle, from initial discovery & ideation, through iterative development, to final delivery. Interrogate product requirements & define user needs, evaluate assumptions, and seek clarity where needed. Design and run qualitative & quantitative research activities with input from the Lead Product Designer when required, which suit timeline and size of project. Work with the Product Manager and engineering team to contribute to product strategy, roadmap, and long term goals. Develop design concepts and other design artefacts based off user research, available data, and project outcomes, in collaboration with the wider team. Produce design artefacts with engineering in mind to achieve project outcomes. Collaborate with engineering to deliver achievable solutions, and resolve design related blockers during build. Present design solutions and concepts to stakeholders and users and iterate based on feedback. Demonstrate a strong ability to advocate for design excellence and promote design best practices within the organisation What we're looking for:
At least 5 years experience as a product designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work. The portfolio can be case studies, a website, a PDF as long as you can comfortably speak to your work. Proficiency using design tools, user research platforms and prototyping tools. We currently use Figma and Figjam for design, and Notion and Linear for project management. Experience with design systems, component libraries, and maintaining design consistency across platforms. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and concepts effectively. Experience working in cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
