The purpose of the role is to create and develop tool/product designs and specifications that optimize the function, value, and appearance of products for the benefit of both customers and manufacturers.Your key responsibilities will be to:Develop new products from concept design to 'tool ready' stage, following the 'Stage-Gate' NPD process, ensuring designs are completed on schedule and to specification.Monitor project progress through design, tooling, trialling, and initial production, addressing product non-conformance issues promptly as per company policies.Liaise with the Toolroom Manager regarding the manufacturability of new product developments before final development.Plan, chart, and coordinate projects to meet key milestones and targets, fostering a team environment and ensuring the quality of PPNZ products meets external customer expectations.Liaise with key Sales/Marketing, Technical, and Operational staff, as well as customers to ensure clear understanding of new design requirements, limitations, or features, and provide sufficient information to department heads for efficient trialling.Communicate effectively to all stakeholders.Store work records and designs according to company procedures for easy access.Ensure full compliance with Pact Group's Workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental (WHSE) policies and all relevant legislation.Monitor and ensure all quality expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle, minimizing machine downtime during trialling.Your skills and experienceTo be successful in this role, you'll have:Minimum of 2 years engineering experience.Knowledge of product design principles in plastics technologies (e.g., Thermoforming)Relevant Engineering Qualification or experience / Toolmaking is advantageousProficiency in SolidWorks.Good IT skills, with a focus on engineering software.Hands-on toolroom experience.Experience in CAD/CAM design and modeling.Additional InformationCompetitive Salary + KiwiSaver + other great benefitsThis is a permanent full-time role.
