Your new role as our Procurement Specialist will be to support the effective application of NZTA Waka Kotahi's procurement processes and practices, with a focus on the planning, sourcing and management phases of the procurement life cycle. Your responsibilities will include supporting the establishment and management of panel arrangements and secondary selection processes, ensuring all processes are consistent with established NZTA and government policies and standards. Working in one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest public sector procuring agencies, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to build your procurement career while supporting varied and interesting work.

Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following (but don't worry if you don't tick every box):
Previous procurement experience working in a government environment
A good understanding of government procurement policies, rules, and process
A good understanding of contractual requirements and risk management techniques
The ability to build and maintain relationships across the organisation and with key stakeholders, internally and externally
Good analytical and conceptual thinking skills and a developing level of commercial acumen
A tertiary qualification in a related discipline or equivalent experience is preferred, and working towards a CIPS (or similar) qualification is desirable.

The Procurement function at NZTA is responsible for planning, sourcing, and managing the supply of external resources to NZTA. Procurement is an essential part of how NZTA delivers our critical business functions to support Te Kapehu, our strategic direction. Many functions of NZTA are performed, in full or part, using external suppliers and we are one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest public sector procuring agencies. NZTA is not only responsible for its own procurement requirements, but it also leads procurement practice across much of the land transport sector.
