Due to the evolving and complex nature of procurement, we have recently transitioned to a centralised, category led operating model to provide more strategic and best practise service to the business. This new model will enable DOC to deliver on its key strategic focus areas such as strengthening our Treaty partnerships and providing strong support for our frontline staff. This role can be based out of our Wellington, Christchurch or Auckland locations. He angitutanga | About the role Reporting to the National Procurement Manager, the Procurement Best Practice & Commercial Lead will oversee the development and implementation of best practice, modern procurement processes and improvement initiatives for the department. The position will be focussed on: developing an excellence programme that aligns processes, systems, templates and tools - working with and supporting the wider Procurement Team to ensure a consistent and best practice approach is applied across the business when it comes to procurement supporting the decision-making process through the provision and analysis of key procurement data including supply chain risk and key insights analysis leading the training program for our staff to ensure consistent use and application of the procurement toolkit ensuring our procurement systems (SAP) are aligned to processes and embedded keeping up to date with industry procurement developments, All-of-Government procurement changes and conveying any obligations across to the team and wider business as appropriate supporting/leading sourcing projects as required. Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience If you have some of the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: At least 5 years' experience in a project management capacity - implementing capability development, training, and change management programs. Sound knowledge and understanding of fundamental of NZ Government Rules of Procurement and its principles, processes and systems. Experience developing and deploying procurement systems and processes. A passion for coaching and mentoring with the ability to develop and upskill technical and non-technical staff. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner effectively across functional lines. Strong analytical skills, able to draw insights from data and identify trends, areas for action and improvement. Understanding of the Maori Crown relationship and its importance to DOC. Degree qualification in Commerce, Business, Finance or other related field (or equivalent body of knowledge).
