Procurement Lead - Enterprise Resource Planning at Transpower New Zealand Limited, Wellington 15 months fixed-term Major component of wider transformation Lead the procurement of a large ERP solution, embedded in the Enterprise Business Capability project, and supported by our Strategic Commercial team. Transpower sits at the centre of the New Zealand electricity industry. We plan, build, operate, and maintain the National Grid - $5B of assets - critical infrastructure that makes up the high voltage backbone that transmits electricity around the country 24/7.
About the Team Within our Corporate Services Division, led by the CFO, the Procurement and Supply Team provides a centre led procurement function that works to achieve enterprise level outcomes from over $450 million of procurement spend per annum across 1,600 domestic and international suppliers.
The team works to empower a more sustainable energy future for New Zealand by providing expert procurement and commercial management capability, and enabling supply chain functions to our operational divisions, driving both financial and non-financial benefits over the long term.
The Opportunity Assigned to and embedded (full-time) within our multi-year Enterprise Business Capability (EBC) programme, you will work day-to-day within the project team and report to the Strategic Commercial Manager who is part of the Procurement and Supply team.
Our EBC programme team is focussed on leading organisation wide change and managing projects in the EBC Programme, including specific responsibility for delivery of the EBC platform and associated works. The EBC programme will deliver an organisational transformation by re-engineering existing business processes and enhancing the end-to-end process.
A major component of this transformation will be the implementation of an organisation wide ERP system. The team will implement the programme in line with established delivery practices. The team consists of staff (employees and contractors) and consultants advising the programme.
As Procurement Lead, your work will encompass leading the development of the ERP procurement strategy, including market analysis, sourcing models and analysis, reporting, and supplier relationships. You will be managing all stages of the procurement process, and you will prepare all procurement documentation required for the project, maintaining probity throughout the procurement process, whilst providing leadership on commercial negotiations.
What will you bring? With proven experience in the effective implementation of commercial strategies, contracts, procurement processes, negotiations, and supplier relationships that are aligned to programme strategy and delivery needs, you will possess highly effective communication, and relationship building skills. You will be adept at advocacy and influencing, stakeholder management, as well as presenting and reporting on procurement status at a senior level.
Your CV and cover letter will be reinforced by relevant qualifications (Business, Commerce, Law) and/or equivalent experience and reflect:
Recent (within past 12 months) experience of successfully leading the end-to-end procurement of an ERP system for a large organisation. Experience with large software procurement that impacts across a large range of stakeholders in a similar sized /or larger business. 10+ years of procurement or commercial experience managing ICT procurement. Experience developing and providing strategic commercial advice at senior management level. Proven skills in leading procurement processes, contracts, supplier relationships with a large budget ($30m+). Current knowledge and experience with software licencing, hardware (general), managed services, Cloud, ICT contracts, and SLA's. While not essential - understanding of and experience with Government Procurement Rules and probity would be advantageous.
