Adventure of a lifetime
We are looking for 4 seasonal Process Workers who can start in early to mid-January 2025 and commit to a minimum of 8-12 weeks work in our factory processing blue cod and paua.
Travel to the Chatham Islands and explore the unspoiled waters of the Southern Pacific Ocean, and the cultural treasures and intriguing history of this remote Island.
Meet other likeminded adventurers, experience great hospitality with the local community ready to welcome you.
Seasonal fixed term work (2-3 months). Come alone, or with a friend or partner and create your own adventure on the Chatham Islands, working for a premium seafood business.
The Chatham Islands lie 750 km to the east of New Zealand's South Island. Moana is one of the biggest employers on the island, which is home to a small community of people, surrounded by pristine waters, that are world renowned for their rock lobster (crayfish), paua (abalone) and blue cod, that are sustainably harvested on these islands.
We are looking for seasonal workers interested in Process Worker roles that would support our Chatham Islands aquaculture and fisheries operations.
If you would like to gain experience working in processing and have a great work ethic, attitude, and are reliable, we are happy to train you.
Alternatively, if you have previous processing and/or knife hand experience, we can provide opportunities to develop your skills and experience in the seafood industry.
The roles are focused on processing seafood; grading, packing, and transporting fish, and sometimes paua and lobster. A critical part of this role is ensuring the highest standard of food safety and quality, following all health & safety processes and practices, and working as an effective and reliable member of the team. From quality control and labouring duties to cleaning and supporting landings and loadouts. They are physical roles that require focus and commitment at all times.
Due to the nature of the business and changing tides and weather conditions, you need to be adaptable and flexible when it comes to days and hours of work.
This is a team-based operation, so you need to enjoy working with others, be able to take instructions and follow processes, whilst supporting your colleagues and ensuring that every day, you are meeting targets, working to a high level of productivity and keeping each other safe.
We operate our factories and processing functions to the strictest standard of food safety and compliance. It requires every one of our people to be committed to achieving this high standard, adhering to all health & safety requirements, and aligning behaviour, performance, and engagement to our values and code of conduct.
What You Need:
You need to be process-oriented, organised, and committed to ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are applied to the end-to-end operations.
You will enjoy the remoteness and experience of living on the Chatham's and the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships with a close-knit team. With a genuine passion for seafood and developing your skills in processing and as a knife hand, this is a great opportunity to work with a business committed to operational excellence, health and safety, and producing premium products.
