Fonterra Oceania is our newly formed entity that merges the Fonterra Brands New Zealand (FBNZ) and Fonterra Australia operations, aimed at enhancing our competitive position in the trans-Tasman dairy market. The integration of Fonterra Brands New Zealand (FBNZ) and Fonterra Australia builds on similarities to outperform the competition, create scale and synergies, and will strengthen our competitive edge. This role will join a team that helps to build an even stronger trans-Tasman dairy business with reach across Oceania and beyond.
We have three Fonterra Oceania (NZ based) operated sites in Takanini, Eltham and Palmerston North, and two central distribution centres in Auckland and Christchurch, with the largest chilled foods network across New Zealand.
About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi
We are looking for a Process Technologist to join our Makomako Road (Palmerston North) site, where you will be responsible for providing outstanding technical support to our manufacturing plant as well as monitor and improve our processes, with an overall goal to optimise our efficiency and performance.
You will be joining a supportive, collaborative and high performing team who work together to provide solutions to the business. Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager, you will act as a technical coach and utilise your solid problem-solving skills to trouble-shoot production issues that occur during plant operation. This role involves collecting and analysing data, leading improvement projects and effectively communicating with a range of stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes directing and coaching the site to support the development of IWS (Integrated Work Systems) capability and achieve outstanding results.
In this varied role, your key responsibilities include:
Provide technical support to manufacturing sites and internal and external customer requirements
Ensure products and processes are within manufacturing capability, process, business and regulatory requirements
Provide problem solving and technical support for process exceptions to help return plant to stable operation and capability
Drive development of new and / or improved processes in dairy manufacturing and commercialisation of technologies.

We are looking for a driven individual with a strong technical mindset and passion for process improvement. A can-do attitude and willingness to go the extra mile when dealing with a variety of stakeholders is essential to succeed.
We want to hear from you if you have:
Experience or an understanding of process improvement, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to coach others
Tech savvy computer skills, particularly using Excel and analysing data
A qualification in Food Technology or Engineering would be advantageous but not essential.
