Position Title: Process Operator - Timaru
Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Position Location: Timaru
Grade: Scale NO GRADE
Requisition ID: 31903
We know the importance that food plays in people's lives – the power it has to bring people, families, and communities together. At McCain, our purpose is to celebrate real connections, through delicious planet-friendly food, with those that are important to us.
The role:
Our local farmers supply our Timaru plant with spuds which are then processed, packaged and leave as either french fries or chips ready for cooking and consumption. But it's our team, and their curiosity, courage and commitment to quality that have McCain Foods an international household name.
We are looking for another amazing team member to join one of our crews in the Processing department of our production team. You will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining various types of machinery to ensure the smooth and efficient production of our internationally-recognised fries.
We are a 24/7 operation, so the role requires a rotating shift pattern, working 2 x 7am - 7pm, then 2 x 7pm - 7am, then having 4 consecutive days off. You will be working as a key member of a small team across the area, so attendance at work is critical to ensure the operation is appropriately resourced. There is some manual handling required on occasion, and you are on your feet for several hours, so a reasonable level of fitness and strength and agility is required.
To be successful in the role you will need:
To hold good health and safety practices in the highest regard
Good computer and data entry skills
Strong mechanical aptitude
Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team
A 'Can do' attitude
Able to meet the physical requirements of the role
While experience in the food manufacturing industry is advantageous, it's not essential. If you're eager to learn and possess strong teamwork qualities, this opportunity is for you.
Key tasks include:
Setting up machinery according to production specifications
Overseeing the efficient operation of the production line and equipment
Troubleshooting and resolving machinery issues
Accurate completion of quality and operations documentation
Ensuring a clean environment and safe food handling
Hazard identification and reporting
What's in it for you?
Step into an inclusive workplace, where your growth and development is nurtured through hands-on learning and ongoing development opportunities.
Enjoy competitive hourly rates and staff sales perks!
Automatic coverage for Life and Total Permanent Disability Insurance
Benefit from a matched Employer KiwiSaver contribution of up to 4%.
If this sounds like you, please submit your CV and cover letter outlining how you meet the criteria for the role.
