We are looking for an energetic tumuaki to lead our idyllic rural school located within minutes of Karori, Wellington.
Makara Model School is looking for an inclusive leader to inspire and motivate kaiako and tamariki to reach their potential - someone who will build on our successful culture, initiatives and programmes.
In addition to a strong understanding of the curriculum, we seek a tumuaki who possesses the skills and mana to:  Provide best practice teaching and learning programmes that meet individual needs and abilities, enabling tamariki to become confident, connected, actively involved learners.
Ensure our school welcomes and supports all learners, through inclusive practices, including tamariki with special learning needs.
Support our vision by ensuring continuous improvement of our self-review and development processes.
Attract and retain quality, dedicated kaiako who inspire and empower students' learning.
Support our strong financial base and inspiring physical environment from which to deliver education.
Provide a fun, safe physical, emotional, and social school environment.
Our leader will be passionate about the environment and enjoy slipping on their gumboots to help continue our sustainability journey, planting trees, gardening, and interacting with tamariki as they feed the eels in the nearby stream.
Situated 20 minutes from Wellington CBD, and 6 minutes from Karori township, we take pride in our attractive grounds and recently refurbished classrooms.
Our new tumuaki will demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and professional qualities and engage with our community to implement our strategic vision and goals.
