About the team Ko te ropu neiThe Three Waters & Waste Unit is responsible for delivering sustainable water and resource recovery services to the community, including the planning and management of surface water, stormwater and waterways along with the supply and treatment of drinking water and management of wastewater.About the role Ko te mahi neiThis is a unique opportunity where you will be the primary source of technical expertise and expert planning advice on surface water, stormwater, waterways and flood management. You will apply your skills and experience to lead and direct the provision of expert technical services for the planning and delivery of programmes and projects. Other responsibilities include:Leadership of the development of the Council's Capital ProgrammeProviding specialised technical direction and presenting expert advice and information to senior managers, councillors, external community groups and other authorities.Initiation, direction, leadership and review of technical work and discussions and decision making on significant technical matters.Engaging and managing resources, preparing and delivering presentations and expert evidence and initiating processes and staff development for asset planning including key elements of the Long Term Plan.Advising the Council in addressing key strategic issues relating to this sector, including impacts of climate change, improving the health of waterways, and regulatory reform including water reform, and as a lead contributor to relevant infrastructure strategy and policy development.You'll be degree qualified in Civil Engineering with highly developed, wide-ranging skills and experience in surface water and waterways. You'll have a record of bringing your innovation and insight to fruition through initiating and developing major projects and programmes of work in the sector, with a proven background in major programme planning and technical leadership, project and programme management. Being a natural at developing a positive rapport will see you establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.What's in it for you?
