The Infrastructure & Delivery group is central to much of this mahi.Sitting within this our Transport and Infrastructure team, who play a key role in delivering critical engineering and infrastructure services to keep Poneke up and moving. This team plan and deliver the maintenance and renewal works on our transport and infrastructure assets as well as controlling the city's network of traffic signals. They construct and deliver minor improvements and safety projects as well as the larger Transport related projects whilst also holding the Council's regulatory role as the Road Controlling Authority.Poneke is on a journey of transformational change, responding to many of the challenges cities around the world are facing, while delivering an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play. To help us deliver this change, we are looking to add a Principal Project Manager to the team to ensure successful delivery of all phases of our Thorndon Quay project of works.This project is aimed at transforming the road corridor to ensure that it provides more space for pedestrians, enhanced public transport and cycling connectivity fit for the future. Is adaptable to future land use change and developed for a more connected and accessible Poneke for generations to come.As the Principal Project Manager, you will lead a team to successfully deliver the project through to completion, within scope, time and on budget. You will manage resource requirements, professional services agreements, and construction contracts to ensure the project is on track and contractual obligations are satisfactorily met.The role and youYou will be an inclusive leader who facilitates a way of working within a team that builds a constructive and collaborative environment where different thinking and ideas are encouraged.You will champion a culture that is focused on effective relationships and engagement with both internal and external stakeholders and broader communities while actively collaborating across Council to ensure that this project is integrated into other Council programmes of work.With prior experience in developing comprehensive baseline project plans and schedules to monitor project objectives through Plan, monitor, execute controls, you will be someone who is actively involved in all project activities using best practice project management principles.Through leading the day-to-day management of staff, consultants and contractors engaged in the delivery of the physical works you will;Schedule and organise project activities including investigations, design, procurement and implementation to achieve physical delivery and close-out phases.Prepare and manage project management plans and schedules, including quality, communication, and safety plans, RACI matrices, stakeholder and risk registers.Maintain an up-to-date and accurate programme plan detailing how & when the programme objectives will be delivered.Set milestones and develop clear, measurable performance indicators.Ensure all notifications and approvals are obtained for work with minimal impact on customers and other servicesProvide reports to senior management and elected members to create a transparent view of the project status and any risks.Through engagement and collaboration and being values driven, you will be someone who naturally builds strong effective relationships within a diverse group to ensure focus, direction and delivery of your projects.About usWorking for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.Applications close 21st of April 2024 All applications must be submitted online.We want to make sure any accessibility requirements you may have, are well supported so the selection process is equitable for everyone.
