Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Location: Wellington Business Group: Policy Group Branch: Regulation and Policy Salary: $129,510 - $161,167 Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs serves and connects people, individuals and Government to build a safe, prosperous and respected nation.
We do this through a significant and varied range of services, functions and portfolios.
We're looking for an experienced Principal Policy professional to join the Policy Group and lead our policy work for online casino regulations, as well as supporting other key policy work on gambling matters.
You will need to be politically savvy and work closely with the team to develop quality policy analysis and advice at pace.
We are looking for someone with great communication skills and experience with engaging with Ministers and diverse stakeholders.
We have recently finished a change process within our wider Policy branch and are now looking to build our Principal Policy Analyst cohort.
This is an opportunity to join the team and help shape and advise on key policies that impact our communities.
You will provide: * Research and policy advice that supports the work of the Gambling policy team; * High quality and strategic thought leadership; * Mentoring and coaching to other Policy Group staff to support their growth and development; and * Experience in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders.
You will have: * Excellent communication, research, and analytical skills; * Advanced critical thinking skills and the ability to deal with ambiguity; * Experience in developing policy and advising Ministers in a regulatory policy environment will be an advantage; and * A tertiary qualification (for example in policy, law, economics, or another relevant field).
