Job Title: Principal Performance Analyst Role type: Permanent full-time Location: Wellington Salary range: $117,035 to $136,961 dependant on skills and experience Korero mo te Turanga - About the Role Fisheries New Zealand works to ensure that fisheries resources are managed to provide the greatest overall benefit to New Zealanders. Our focus is the sustainability of New Zealand's wild fish stocks, aquaculture, and the wider aquatic environment, now and for future generations. We have an opportunity within our Governance and Performance team for a person who can help drive our organisation to continuously improve its performance. The purpose of this Principal Performance Analyst role is to plan, lead and deliver specific pieces of work; provide strong business and financial analysis and reporting; provide insights and advice on aspects of branch performance; in addition to mentoring and supporting staff in the team. This is an opportune time to join us as we identify and deliver improvements to some of our processes. You'll be involved in pulling together information by analysing data, speaking with a variety of subject matter experts across Fisheries New Zealand, working with the Fisheries New Zealand Leadership Team and on occasion engage with representatives of the fisheries industry. As such, this role requires significant internal stakeholder engagement. You'll have strategic oversight of the branch's performance. You will think about ways of working which have not been considered before, with a view to improving the way we work, and how we deliver value to our stakeholders. Mou - About You Bring your relevant tertiary qualification, analytical skills and significant relevant work experience along with your attention to detail and your enjoyment of working in a fast moving, busy environment where no two days are the same. You do not need to have a Fisheries background. You may come from the private or public sector, or perhaps from within the fishing industry. You'll have: Experience in project management, business planning, analysis and performance monitoring (public or private sector) Experience building productive relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders Refined interpersonal skills Proven ability to collate and analyse detailed business and financial management data, systems, and processes. Significant experience preparing reports and other written communication for senior leaders. Ability to provide advice and insights that supports robust decision-making processes Skilled in use of PowerBI and data visualisation techniques. You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply. Mo to matou Ropu - About the Team This role sits within the Strategy and Governance Directorate, and reports to the Manager Governance and Performance. A small but mighty team, you'll help mentor two Senior Performance Analysts. The whole team is based on one floor, and surrounded by other smart, galvanised kaimahi working across various teams in Fisheries New Zealand.
