Job Description
The position is a member of the Education, Research and Enterprise Partnerships cluster (Scholarly Communication Team). He/She will work as part of a collaborative team and is primarily responsible for coordinating the library's Research Data Management (RDM) programmes and services. This role involves establishing strong collaborative relationships with faculty, researchers, and university research offices/centres to develop, deliver and promote innovative programmes and services in response to rapidly expanding needs in data management, open science, Scholarly Communication, and Digital Scholarship, particularly through the integration of AI in instructional practices and the research process.
As the Scholarly Communication and Research Data Management Librarian, he/she will:
Coordinate and implement RDM services and programmes supporting the research data lifecycle across disciplines.
Develop and promote the library's role in providing strong expertise on data management planning, data management best practices, open science, and data literacy matters in the context of Digital Scholarship.
Establish best practices to advance the adoption of open science and RDM best practices in NUS and beyond.
Work closely with library colleagues and other stakeholders to plan, manage and implement library programmes and initiatives.
C curate and make available learning resources, best practices, and resource guides on Scholarly Communication and RDM to accelerate self-directed learning.
Provide consultation and information services on Scholarly Communication, RDM, and other research data-related matters.
Partner with relevant university colleagues and stakeholders to develop policies and procedures for Research Data access, sharing, management, and reuse.
Work together with the Institutional Repository team to facilitate archival, access, and discovery of publications and research data through our Institutional Repository or Digital Preservation systems.
Partner with library colleagues to conduct information literacy programmes on Scholarly Communication, RDM, Digital Scholarship, data literacy, open science, etc.
Establish partnerships with stakeholders to highlight best practices for using AI in research.
Work with team members to promote and communicate the impact of library programmes and initiatives through publications, conferences, events, reports, etc.
Keep up to date on trends relating to open science, research data and data management, digital scholarship, Scholarly Communication, open access policies, repositories and metadata, assessment and digital preservation.
Work together with colleagues from other library clusters to drive cross-cluster collaborations and projects to enhance library services, innovation, and knowledge transfer for impact.
Other related tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree in library/information science is preferred.
Years of Experience
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in an academic library environment managing RDM, open science, Scholarly Communication, or Institutional Repositories in the context of Digital Scholarship.
Knowledge and Skills required
Strong knowledge and expertise in Scholarly Communication, RDM, trends and developments in open science, national and international research policies influencing RDM, research data literacy, institutional repository, and digital scholarship practices.
Strong knowledge of diverse methods of research data collection, types of research data, data analysis methods, and data storage options relevant across a broad range of disciplines.
Knowledge in data management best practices for managing research data with AI tools.
Knowledge and proficiencies in data management-related tools for data preparation, analysis, and storage.
Strong proven data appraisal and analysis skills, with the keen ability to quickly evaluate and provide recommendations to management of datasets at different points of the research data lifecycle.
Experience in managing research data and publications in an institutional repository system or digital preservation system.
Knowledge of data analysis and visualization, data mining, and use of APIs.
Experience in teaching, outreach, and providing research and information literacy programmes for undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and academic faculty.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, library users, and other stakeholders.
Strong evidence of collaboration skills demonstrated through proven examples from working within and across organisations, research offices, and diverse stakeholder groups.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about user needs and provide solutions.
Excellent ability to identify, create, sustain, and enhance effective working partnerships and relationships with collaborators and stakeholders.
Effective time and project management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities, initiatives, and programmes.
