He angitutanga: The opportunity In this pivotal role, you'll be a go-to expert in landscape planning, providing landscape advice that will shape our region as part of the Tamaki Makaurau Design Ope. The role is region wide and encompasses sensitive landscapes in urban, coastal and rural areas as well as complex and large-scale urban applications.  Day to day you can expect to: •    Influence Unitary plan changes •    Work on transformative projects with a focus on landscape effects assessments, landscape characterisation, and public realm design review •    Collaborate with Council Controlled Organizations (CCOs), other Council staff and highly experienced external consultants •    Ensure all development is consistent with national legislation •    Provide expert advice on landscape architecture and landscape effects •    Advocate for Te Kaunihera's standpoint through well-crafted written reports and persuasive oral communication •    Support and mentor Specialist Landscape Architects within TMDO We're committed to fostering highly skilled and knowledgeable landscape architecture practices that respect Maori Design Principles, including the Te Aranga Maori Design principles. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the formulation of landscape based strategies, policies, and guidelines through innovative and collaborative strategic guidance. Taking a proactive approach, you'll organise training and educational initiatives for our staff and customers. Building and leveraging relationships and partnerships will be key to promoting best practices in landscape architecture and achieving outstanding landscape outcomes. You can view a copy of the position description here He korero mou: About you To thrive in this role, you'll need a minimum of an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture and experience in landscape assessment. Ideally you will be a NZILA registered landscape architect or interest in becoming one, with at least seven years of experience.  We will also be looking for candidates who:  •    Have the ability to provide specialised design advice for built form and landscape architecture matters •    Can build and maintaining strong relationships  •    Understand Te Tangi a te Manu: Aotearoa New Zealand Landscape Assessment Guidelines and the Auckland Unitary Plan •    Show proficiency in software applications like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, CAD platforms, Microsoft Office, and hand drawing •    Are experienced working with Iwi Management Plans You'll have honed your skills in landscape effects assessments, landscape characterisation, and public realm design. You'll also possess a sound understanding of resource consents processes, plan changes, and the regulatory requirements in the Local Government environment.
