Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Principal Turua School Board is recruiting for a new principal following the recent resignation of our well-respected and long-serving professional leader. Turua is a beautiful rural village situated at the gateway to the Coromandel, just 10 minutes south of Thames and around an hour from Auckland and Hamilton. We have access to beautiful walks, bush, beaches, and much more all within a short distance from the school. We are a decile 5 full primary school with a supportive community and parents who have high expectations for their children's education. Our school is fortunate to have a close-knit local community who love being part of our school. A wide variety of opportunities are offered across all curriculum areas from the arts, with extension classes provided and productions through to physical education and sports, including outdoor education and attending a range of sporting events. Our community events include an annual Giant Pumpkin festival, a wonderful calf club, and we are a garden to table school. We have a stable roll of around 100 learners with the majority (around 75) being Pakeha and around 25 Maori learners. We have a small number of other ethnicities including a handful of ESOL learners. We have a strong professional staff of 7 (5 FTTE) teachers and 5 support staff. The school has 5 classrooms. Our facilities are in very good condition including recently renovated classrooms, a large community swimming pool, a school hall, and a beautiful outlook at the base of the Coromandel.
