Principal Geotechnical Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team! We are a multi-disciplinary consultancy offering professional geotechnical, environmental, civil, 3 waters and natural hazard engineering services. Servicing the whole of New Zealand, we work primarily across the Auckland and Northland regions. This is an excellent opportunity based on the sunny Hibiscus Coast of Auckland. Qualifications and Experience: Current chartered geotechnical engineering status is required for this position. 15 years or more of significant professional experience in geotechnical engineering consulting and proven ability to provide expert advice. An understanding of New Zealand engineering regulatory rules and controls. Team leadership experience with excellent written and verbal communication. Influencing skills and mentoring ability to team members who come with varying experience and skills. Experience managing client expectations and project requirements, including project quoting, invoicing and team budgets. Expertise in engineering design tools and engineering project quality assurance. A strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation and best practice, with a particular focus or experience in how this applies to our industry. Deliverables in accordance with current guidelines and standards. Key areas of results include: Responsible for developing a strong, efficient business unit. Managing a team of people to support your role, including geotechnical engineers, CAD technicians, and field staff. Identify and develop business development and project opportunities for business growth. Preparing tender documents, attending meetings and maintaining client relationships to establish new lines of business. A multi-disciplinary understanding of each project to promote the full range of engineering services we offer. Project management within the geotechnical engineering team. Undertake complex geotechnical engineering and land development designs, drawings, and reports for a range of land development projects across New Zealand. Provide in-house support and peer review of geotechnical engineering and land development projects, including ensuring accuracy, certification and sign off. Proficient use of AutoCAD to develop 2D and 3D models. Provide engineering services to the residential, government and commercial sectors. Client liaison and internal project management including quoting and invoicing with other senior managers. Assist with other engineering disciplines of the business as required. Sounds great!
