Our client is seeking a Principal Engineer to join their team in Wellington. In this role, you will be instrumental in leading the team, working closely with People Leaders and overseeing other developers' code. Your effective analysis, design, programming and testing skills will be put to good use as you produce software systems. What you'll do:
Conduct detailed analyses of project and software requirements as part of specific assigned work packages.
Develop software designs, coding and testing protocols according to specific work packages and project needs.
Originate, use and promote the creation and maintenance of company coding and design standards.
Perform technical tasks, including unit test functions, to support internal quality control arrangements.
Undertake assigned integration planning and software building definition tasks.
Provide first-hand supervision and guidance to designated lower-level Software Engineers on assigned activities.
Act as technology authority in short- or long-term planning, making recommendations on technical policies within an overall program.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals.
Identify areas of design that have potential to be patented.
What you bring:
Strong analytical skills for understanding project and software requirements.
Proficiency in developing software designs, coding and testing according to specific work packages.
