As a Principal Engineer you'll be responsible for providing technical consultancy, code architecture and engineering capability to the technical and operational teams in Movio and within the Wider Vista Group, to ensure the ongoing technical quality and longevity of our software suite and the success of our offerings.This role will work with the Lead Software Architect, Global Head of Platform and Architecture, the Architecture team and Engineering teams, to develop, refine and implement the technical and architectural strategies for Vista software and services.The role will provide technical research and software design services to teams as required, including proactively creating and reviewing solution designs and technical implementation details, and recommending improvements that ensure our software and services advance in line with our technical strategy.In addition to providing general mentoring and technical guidance to Engineers, Operations Staff and Technical Experts, the role will include working with teams on a project basis, creating solutions and implementing positive and meaningful solutions across our product and service estate.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy:Work with the Lead Software Architect, Global Head of Platform and Architecture, Architecture team members and key subject matter experts to develop and refine strategic technical goals and strategy documentation for Vista software and servicesMonitor external and internal information sources to identify new technology options relevant to our software and servicesResearch new technology options where appropriate and communicate findings to Vista Group stakeholdersAssist the Global Head of Platform and Architecture to refine and communicate technical strategy to all relevant stakeholdersProactively monitor solution designs and technical implementation details across multiple development teams to ensure development efforts are adhering to our strategic goalsGuidance and Mentoring:Provide technical mentoring and guidance to all teams as required including architecture, solution design and review servicesEnsure the teams are aware of our strategic technical goals and are working collaboratively to achieve theseWork with the Global Head of Platform and Architecture, Head of Cloud Services, Architects, and the Development Teams to promote technical excellenceFacilitate regular collaborative sessions with teams to ensure ongoing technical improvements to our core software modules and frameworksEngineering and Delivery:Develop proof of concept to prove key elements of solution design will deliver all the aspects we wish toWork alongside engineering teams to build key platform and customer deliverablesHelp manage key engineering projects to deliveryOperations:Help define operational state and runbooks for production and test systemsWork with engineering teams as required on high priority issue identification and remediationOther:Assist the Lead Software Architect and Global Head of Platform and Architecture to document and maintain internal development resources and best practice guidancePerform interviews for new Architecture and Engineering staff as requiredComplete other tasks as directed by the Lead Software Architect, Global Head of Platform and Architecture and Senior Architect(s) acting as support and stand-in as requiredAbout VistaVista is a world-leading company that makes software for the cinema industry.
