The Role
We are looking for someone with solid experience within consent planning, ideally having experience with or within Council consent space to join the team as a Principal Planner. The role will see you as an integral part of the consent team, delivering customer and solution-focused planning and resource consenting services that align with the strategic goals of the council. As the Principal Planner, you will also play an integral part in the support and mentorship of the team, as well as taking the lead when it comes to the more complex aspects of the role.

Other Duties Include:
Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Ensure all legislative obligations are met under the district plan and RMA 1991
Mentoring more junior members of the team and providing peer reviews
Participate in hearings and environmental court when needed
About You
You would ideally have 7+ years of experience within the consent planning space and ideally at least 2 of those years at a senior level. You would be a team player who is willing to lead and mentor the consent team, as well as assist them on more difficult tasks and applications.

Minimum Requirements:
Relevant tertiary education
Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to resource management and local government
Eligibility for a full NZPI membership
Show leadership while maintaining your workload
Drive for positive change within the workplace
Good sense of humour and a positive approach to work
