Position Purpose: This is a senior position in the Environmental Health Intelligence NZ (EHINZ) team, which provides intelligence on New Zealand's environmental health under a contract with the Ministry of Health. EHINZ is based in the Centre for Public Health Research within the College of Health, Massey University, and has five surveillance systems for monitoring environmental health in New Zealand:
Environmental health indicatorsHazardous substancesEnvironmental burden of diseaseSocial vulnerability indicatorsNZ Congenital Anomalies RegisterThis position involves leading the application of high-level statistical expertise to the surveillance of environmental health and the development of new forms of analysis of environmental health data, providing statistical expertise across all areas of EHINZ, leading projects involving the analysis of data in the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI), producing ad hoc reports on special issues in environmental health, contributing to the strategic and operational development of EHINZ, mentoring junior staff, developing collaborations with colleagues in other research institutions, and maintaining and developing relationships with stakeholders and clients.

The main function of the Centre is to conduct hauora and health research that is of scientific importance and has the potential to improve public health, reduce health inequities, and guide policy development. The Centre also has a commitment to training new hauora and health researchers including MSc and PhD students and maintains liaison with policy makers to ensure that research findings inform policy.
