Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The Principal Advisor is a senior advisory position with strong subject matter expertise, writing and problem-solving skills capable of leading a project of work. The Principal Advisor has strong relationship management and influence skills.  As a Principal Advisor, you will be able to hold trusting relationships with Maori, senior sector leaders and health PSC&HTM staff, clinicians and the wider community to address key strategic and operational issues, and stewarding change including driving service improvements. Our Ideal candidate will have significant experience in advisory roles, preferably at the Principal Advisor level, with experience leading the development and delivery of significant, complex or contentious work. This experience will allow you to provide a flexible approach to complex problem-solving. You will seen as having a client-centred approach that supports the development of strong relationships. You will have a personal drive to succeed and be able to demonstrate the interpersonal skills that are required to effectively engage people. You will be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including those with a strategic or operational focus. A relevant tertiary qualification, or extensive equivalent experience of more than seven years. Preferably you have worked in a previous principal adviser role for two or more years, with recent experience of developing and delivering significant policy work. More general relevant longer-term experience specific to a related job of more than nine years is required. Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgment to develop options and provide advice, particularly in leading complex or contentious policy work. A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth Ko te mahi e tika ana mo te ao hurihuri nei |Work that suits today's ever-changing world Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi.
