Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As our new Principal Advisor - Procurement Capability you will play a critical part in the development of procurement capability within NZTA | Waka Kotahi and across our Approved Organisations. Working in one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest public sector procuring agencies, your new position is responsible for assessing procurement and commercial capability within the Procurement team, across Business Groups, and as a sector support function to Approved Organisations. Working collaboratively with our Learning and Organisational Development team, NZ Government Procurement and other key development focused stakeholders, your role will involve designing and implementing initiatives to raise procurement and commercial capability. O Pumanawa | What we're looking for Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following (but don't worry if you don't tick every box):
Strong technical procurement experience, leading or supporting procurement and contract management in a similarly large and complex environment
An excellent understanding of government procurement policies, rules and process
Be knowledgeable in the application of more complex routes to market, for example, Competitive Dialogue, Alliancing, Lean Agile Procurement (LAP), and have experience in applying this knowledge to high-value, high-risk procurements
Bring strong strategic experience working in procurement transformation and capability development, with demonstrated capability in influencing at senior levels
Strong facilitation, collaboration, training and coaching skills
A tertiary qualification in a commercial discipline is desirable, with CIPS or related professional industry membership preferred
Ko wai matou | About us The Procurement function at NZTA is responsible for planning, sourcing, and managing the supply of external resources to NZTA. Procurement is an essential part of how NZTA delivers our critical business functions to support Te Kapehu, our strategic direction. Many functions of NZTA are performed, in full or part, using external suppliers and we are one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest public sector procuring agencies. NZTA is not only responsible for its own procurement requirements, but it also leads procurement practice across much of the land transport sector.
