This team support the Director of Mental Health and Addiction's regulatory roles.
The team: * Monitors and reports on the mental health system's compliance with legal requirements * Administers the rules and permissions for individuals who are subject to compulsory assessments and treatments * Advises the Director of Mental Health and Addiction, and the Minister * Regulates the system that enables recreational drugs to be tested to minimise harm The principal advisor will be expected to: * Understand the New Zealand health and disability sector * Help strengthen the Ministry's regulatory role * Provide high quality advice and support to the Director of Mental Health and Addiction that is legally robust and appropriately balances all the relevant factors * Engage with service providers and organisations that are subject to regulatory requirements * Support coach and mentor other members of the team * Be able to operate without a high degree of direction, using initiative and judgement to know how to manage risks and escalate appropriately Ko wai matou - About us At Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.
