Are you driven by results and eager to support impactful initiatives in the science sector? We are looking for a Principal Advisor - Government in our Commercial Team.
This Wellington-based role involves representing MWLR across our Government clients at a senior level to manage key government relationships. MWLR works closely with the Labour, Science and Enterprise group at MBIE, and with staff in the Ministry for the Environment, Ministry for Primary Industries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and the Department of Conservation.
You will enjoy working at the interface between government policy, government funding and evidence-based research around climate, environment, and land resources. Your expertise will be crucial in advising and supporting bids for government funding, ensuring our applications are compelling and aligned with partners' strategic goals.
In this role, you will work with senior researchers to frame applied research packages that align with government partners. You will be familiar with science and innovation frameworks and the role this plays in advancing New Zealand's environment, economic and social outcomes. You will be familiar with government funding arrangements and can articulate returns from Crown investments. You'll collaborate closely with government officials, contributing to the successful implementation of science system requirements. You will have a relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrate familiarity with the New Zealand science funding system, public sector or key stakeholders. Significant expertise in organisational planning and influencing investment outcomes is essential, along with strong contract and relationship management skills and an appreciation of key policy frameworks.
