Principal Advisor, Ethics at Ministry of Health, WellingtonSalary midpoint of $140,938, actual salary dependent on your experienceKo ake mahi - What you'll do The Principal Advisor is responsible for the provision of timely high-quality advice to support the Manager, Ethics, other Ethics staff, five Ministerial Ethics Committees, and two Ministerial Strategy and Policy ethics committees in relation to health and disability research ethics and reproductive technology ethics.
Key Responsibilities: A Master's degree (or equivalent) in ethics, philosophy or a related fieldAdvanced knowledge of the machinery of Government, risk management, and key issues impacting on the New Zealand health and disability sectorExperience in managing high profile and sensitive issues, influencing people, leading work programmes, change management and facilitationExcellent advisory and communication skills with the ability to think critically, assimilate complex and often competing ideas logically, make sound decisions under pressure and write or articulate them clearly, concisely, and coherentlyThe ability to analyse complex technical information to provide advice to a wide range of audiencesAt Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.
We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Ethics team is part of the Regulation and Monitoring Directorate and supports five Ministerial Ethics Committees and two Ministerial Strategy and Policy ethics committees to provide independent expert advice and ethical review of assisted reproductive technology and health and disability research.
