Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this role This is a newly established role with a dedicated focus on leading and supporting DPMC's response to Phase 2 of the Royal Commission into the lessons learned from Aotearoa New Zealand's response to COVID-19. This Principal Advisor will have a focus on providing a technical leadership and mentoring role in relation to the department's response to Phase 2 of the Royal Commission into the lessons learned from Aotearoa New Zealand's response to COVID-19. In this small team, the Principal Advisor will take the lead in proactively identifying information and providing advice on related COVID-19 material, including taking the lead in developing any responses to requests for information from the Royal Commission. The Principal Advisor is also responsible for supporting engagement with stakeholders, providing advice and ensuring that emerging or potential risks to the effectiveness of DPMC's response are identified in a timely manner and reported for early DPMC management consideration. It also provides thought leadership on relevant matters to the COVID-19 Inquiry team and provides feedback and direction within the team. The role would suit someone who has had previous experience managing and advising on inquiries, and can demonstrate the following capabilities: Highly developed analytical skills and able to provide thought leadership capabilities, Excellent writer, able to synthesise material at both the strategic & tactical level, Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, Ability to rapidly analyse and convey complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions, Able to communicate with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders at all levels, Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and present clearly at a senior level. This role sits in the Strategy, Governance and Engagement Group (SGE) within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
