The issue of public importance that the Phase 2 inquiry is directed to examine is the lessons learned from Aotearoa New Zealand's response to COVID-19 that should be applied in preparation for any future pandemic. The Principal Advisor, Communications, Engagement and Media will be a key member of the small but effective establishment team for the Phase 2 inquiry. This will be active and fast-paced role. Under the Inquiries Act 2013 the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) provides administrative assistance to Public and Government Inquiries. About the role: As a Principal Advisor you will lead delivery of strategies for communications, engagement and media in order to set the inquiry up for success. Your abilities to engage high level stakeholders, develop quality advice and work in partnership with others in a small and effective establishment team will be key. Your high quality and timely advice will aid decision-making and help enable the work of the Inquiry to be efficient, visible, and aligned. About you: This role will suit a sharp-thinking and skilled Principal Advisor who knows how to work within a dynamic and developing environment. You will be responsible for the establishment of the communications and engagement strategies and frameworks for phase 2 of the Royal Commission. This requires the ability to lead and manage a range of activities, to a high-quality standard, both face-to-face and virtually. To be successful in the role you will have: * A proven history in developing innovative stakeholder engagement and communication strategies within a large and complex environment. * A demonstrated history of achievement in the development and delivery of high-quality strategic communications advice. * Ability to process complex information quickly, form independent judgements and communicate these clearly and influentially. * Expertise in managing relationships across a wide range of people, and working successfully as part of a team We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion.
