As the Principal Advisor, Asset Management at South Wairarapa District Council, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic planning and management of the Council's diverse asset portfolio within the Community Operations Team, such as buildings, parks/reserves, cemeteries, senior housing and swimming pools. This full-time position is based in Martinborough and is crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of community operations.What you'll be doingLead the development and implementation of comprehensive asset management plans.Provide expert advice and support to senior management on all aspects of asset management, including lifecycle planning, risk assessment, and investment prioritisation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure asset management strategies are aligned with the Council's overall strategic objectives.Oversee the monitoring and reporting of asset performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimisation.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation and best practices in asset management.Train and develop staff on the use and disciplines of asset management and underline the value of doing so.What we're looking forTertiary qualification in asset management, or a related discipline.Extensive experience (5+ years) in asset management, preferably within a local government or public sector environment.Demonstrated expertise in the development and implementation of strategic asset management plans.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.Delivery focused and able to work autonomously and at pace across different tasks.Proven track record of leading change to achieve organisational goals.Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to asset management.What we offerAt South Wairarapa District Council, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that enables our employees to thrive.
