Principal Academic Staff Member - Health PracticePrincipal Academic Staff Member - Health Practice Full time Add expected salary to your profile for insights Principal Academic Staff Member - Department of Health Practice Permanent, Full-Time Work for a progressive world class tertiary education providerWork collaboratively in a well-established team with a strong reputationTo provide professional leadership and oversight of teaching staff and will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of Postgraduate programmes. Ensuring they meet the outcomes contained within the programme documents and meet or exceeds student and industry expectations. The position requires the incumbent to: Assist the Head of Department and other departmental Managers in planning as required.Manage the day-to-day activities required to deliver on the strategic and operational objectives in respect of academic components and matters of programmes offered in the department.Assist in the planning of learner experiences, staff workload and resource allocation.Assist the departmental leadership team to assure academic quality, compliance and to develop capability.Commitment to support initiatives aimed at raising achievement of Maori and underserved communities.This position is primarily focused on operational management of the area in alignment with the Department goals. Nationally or internationally recognised reputation.Experience in and proven ability to provide leadership.Highly developed leadership and team-building skills.Proven ability to foster productive relationships within the health sector and other external stakeholders.Highly developed time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise and coordinate activities, and meet deadlines.Significant teaching experience, especially in adult education and tertiary settings.Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in a range of situations e.g., with students, staff, academic peers, and professional groups.Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisationExperience in applying cultural safety in a health context to achieve equitable outcomes.Willingness and ability to adapt and work in flexible ways with a range of people within and outside Ara.Flexibility to work on a range of theoretical and clinical courses throughout the Department.Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse range of people within and outside Ara.Vision, innovation, and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning.The ability to contribute to research outputs.Time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise and co-ordinate activities and meet deadlines.Experience in providing pastoral care.Demonstrate practice in successfully engaging with communities from diverse backgrounds and identities, in particular Maori, Pasifika, Youth, International and people with disabilities.Engagement with assessment and feedback processes.Teaching experience.Digital literacy including - competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products)Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisationAra Institute of Canterbury a business division of Te Pukenga (Ara), is a vibrant and progressive tertiary institute providing world-class, tertiary-level education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region.
