Primary Teacher

Details of the offer

Refugees who arrive in Aotearoa all spend 5 weeks or more at the reception centre where they receive a full education programme managed by Auckland University of Technology (AUT). AUT seeks a primary trained, New Zealand registered teacher to work across a range of age groups in the Modern Learning primary classrooms based at the Refugee Reception Education Centre. Desirable experience includes working in MLEs and working with former refugees. An ESOL qualification and knowledge of a second or third language are also desirable.

Candidates for this role must have empathy for diverse learners who have had a refugee background. They should also have good intercultural communication skills and prior experience working with migrants or former refugees and/or special needs learners.

This role is considered a children's worker role and will be subject to safety checking as part of the Children's Act 2014.
At AUT we strive to be a place where people love to work and learn.
