Primary School Caretaker

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Primary School Caretaker to join our team at Te Kura o Kimi Ora. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position involves a variety of tasks, including general maintenance, cleaning, and groundskeeping.
Key Responsibilities: Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on school facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas.
Cleaning: Ensure that all areas of the school are clean and well-maintained. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitising surfaces.
Safety Checks: Conduct regular safety inspections of the premises, reporting any hazards or issues to the School Business Manager.
Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas, including gardens, playgrounds, and sports fields. This may involve mowing, weeding, and seasonal landscaping.
Repairs: Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including fixing furniture, plumbing, and electrical issues.
Emergency Response: Act as a first responder in case of emergencies, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Qualifications: Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role, preferably in an educational setting.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques.
Ability to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment safely.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform manual tasks and lift equipment as needed.
A valid driving license may be required.
