Workplace Training & Assessment (Education & Training)The Teachers' Institute (TTI) is an independent charitable Trust established in 2023. It is founded and led by a community of New Zealand secondary schools. TTI aims to ensure that all school students have access to high-quality teaching and learning.Initially, the Trust will focus on achieving this aim by providing school-based initial teacher education (ITE). TTI's new teacher training programme, a postgraduate diploma in secondary teaching, is currently in the approval stage, with the first cohort starting in January 2025.TTI is committed to being a research-informed, innovative, and world-class organisation that works in close partnership with schools and communities to design and deliver solutions that can help ensure that all children have access to outstanding education.About the roleThe Programme Development Lead will lead the development of a new school-based, Post-Graduate Diploma Primary Teaching (school based). This will involve working with the Academic Director and Academic Quality Manager and other members of TTI to scope and design the programme, including the programme's structure, content, and pedagogical approach.The Programme Development Lead will lead the approval and accreditation process with the Teaching Council and NZQA including: (1) writing the programme-related aspects of the application; (2) liaising with TTI staff on the writing of the quality assurance, policy, and compliance components of the application process; (3) where applicable liaising with the Teaching Council and NZQA and responding to any requests for information; (4) taking a leading role in the joint Teaching Council and NZQA Panel.The role will also involve developing the course materials and resources required for the successful delivery of the programme from January 2026. The role will be an initial 18-month contract, with the opportunity for renewal. The role can be negotiated as part-time or full-time.For the right candidate, following the successful approval and accreditation of the programme, and the development of the associated course materials and resources, there would be the opportunity to join the academic staff of TTI.Who we are looking forWe are looking for someone with deep knowledge of and experience in primary school education. The successful candidate will ideally have experience teaching in a tertiary institution, with experience in initial teacher education or other education-related courses particularly valuable. Experience in course and/or programme development at the tertiary level or in designing and leading high quality professional learning is beneficial.A strong and up-to-date knowledge of the research base on effective teaching and learning and classroom practice is essential, as is the ability to make connections between the research and its practical implications for classroom practice.The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and a track record in leading projects and meeting ambitious milestones. They will also have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the TTI team.RequirementsAll candidates for this role must:Align with TTI's purpose and valueHave the right to work in Aotearoa New ZealandSatisfactorily complete a police vet for New Zealand, and for any other country they have lived in for more than twelve months in the last ten yearsProvide the details of at least 3 referees, of which 2 must be current or former employersBe based in, or willing to relocate to AucklandPreference for candidates who are qualified to NZQF Level 9 (Master's Degree level)Please upload your resume and cover letter in PDF format.
