Prebbleton Veterinary Hospital - Equine Veterinarian (Racehorse) - Prebbleton

Details of the offer

Organisation: Prebbleton Veterinary Hospital
Location: Prebbleton
Position type: 2x Equine Veterinarian positions available
Tired of bad weather and busy traffic? Need a lifestyle adjustment?
Responsibilities: Full-time veterinarian with ideally a minimum of 3 years' experience; however, new graduates considered. Preference given to candidates with an interest in lameness/performance medicine and dentistry.
Seasonal locum veterinarian for the 2024-2025 breeding season (September 2024 - February 2025). Primarily standardbred reproduction work with some pleasure/sport horses.
Prebbleton is halfway down the East Coast of the South Island, in a growing affluent satellite village on the western flank of Christchurch city, with a wide range of new housing for sale and rent.
Our clientele is varied - racing, sport, and pleasure horses, 90% within 25km of the clinic.
Ski slopes are 90 mins away, 30 mins to the beach or some lovely hill walks and 4-5 hrs from some amazing world-class hiking. Christchurch, New Zealand's 2nd largest city has good restaurants, theatres, and excellent schools in a compact area.
Our clinic is proudly privately owned, and you would be joining 2 experienced colleagues with a third to return in a year: a specialist equine surgeon visits monthly.
The small animal department has three veterinarians and a dedicated veterinary nursing staff.
You will be mostly working independently but have backup from your experienced colleagues and veterinary technicians. 85% of the work is ambulatory; however, the locum work will be primarily based at a standardbred stud located only a few minutes from the clinic.
Our veterinarians are an international collection and are all happy to have a chat about the practice and living/working in New Zealand. We pride ourselves on being part of the local community sponsoring horse events and projects within the village.
Benefits: Salary DOE.
Vehicle for business and private use including fuel.
Mobile phone for business and private use, including app that connects to PMS.
Registration and indemnity insurance.
CPD allowance.
Shared on call roster.
Relocation assistance & work visa support available.
4 weeks paid holiday.
Options to tailor the position for the right candidates.
If you think this opportunity may be right for you, contact Melissa at ****** or on (+64) 03 349 9946 to apply or discuss the position.
We look forward to hearing from you!
