About the Role We have a permanent full time position available for a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in the specimen registration department of the laboratory. You will be required to participate in the 24/7 roster when training is complete.
Key responsibilities of the role: Receive, label and process specimens according to established protocols and quality standards.Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of patient and specimen information.Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure proper handling and storage.Effective use of time to ensure timely distribution of specimens to other departments.Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.About the Service The specimen services department plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by managing the collection, processing and distribution of patient specimens for testing. Operating on a 24/7 roster, this department has a dedicated team of professionals who can work in a fast-paced environment to ensure a timely and accurate specimen handling.
About you Ability to understand instructions and follow established operating procedures.Data entry and reasonable typing skills required.Be able to work well on your own as well as in a team environment.Preferred candidate will have previous laboratory experience.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
