About the Role The role of pre-analytical technician involves the collection (phlebotomy) of laboratory specimens. This role may also extend to data entry and some specimen preparation for testing.
As a pre-analytical technician in our team, you will have collaboration and support to deliver your mahi and contribute to the broader objectives of our busy laboratory.

About the Service The phlebotomy service provides a high standard of service in the collection and processing of laboratory specimens including but not limited to venepuncture, urine, swab collection, breath testing, venesection. The department provides services to all parts of the hospital with daily ward rounds including NICU, outpatients clinic and other departments by request where possible. The department provides training for phlebotomists from around the region (hospitals and community) including infection control.
About you Ability to understand instructions and follow established operating procedures.Ability to understand the needs of the patient and communicate with them.Moderate level of fitness as the role requires traveling to all areas of the hospital.Ability to work well on your own as well as in a team environment.Preferred candidates will have experience in phlebotomy or the healthcare industry.Applicants will preferably be registered with the Medical Sciences Council as a medical laboratory pre-analytical technician; however, those without this qualification and the right attributes may also be considered and will be given full training.Experience in healthcare and/or customer service is advantageous.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
