About the Role Practice Nurse The Practice Nurse provides primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within Health Services team at the Te Kaika Wellness Hub in Dunedin.
The core role of the practice nurse is to deliver preventative care in the form of CLIC and PHO programmes such as cervical smears, cardiovascular risk assessment, diabetic reviews etc.
He/she will work within their scope of practice and be responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to patients.
The Practice Nurse will provide efficient, effective, professional nursing service in collaboration with the wider Te Kaika team.
Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Prescribers As a Nurse Practitioner or Prescriber, you will be responsible for delivering primary healthcare services, conducting patient assessments, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medications, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care across the local community.
The Nurse Practitioner is expected to be well versed in all aspects of the provision of patient care.
You will need to be able to work autonomously and part of your role will be to conduct physical assessments, diagnose, and treat common conditions, provide screenings, and prescribe medications to our patients.
Providing one on one advice to patients mean that you will need to be friendly, compassionate and pro-active in management of conditions.
Job Responsibilities The nurse will work independently and cooperatively with the doctors as peers.
Duties include - Nurse consultations, Health promotion / long-term condition management, patient contact / recalls, immunisation / health screening, dressings, and will assist with minor surgery etc.
Administrative tasks include but are not limited to stock control, sterilising etc.
Requirements A current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate and NZNO registration.
