Practice Manager Infrastructure Engineering Auckland Council's Technology Services team is on the lookout for an exceptional Practice Manager to lead our Infrastructure practice team. As the Practice Manager at Auckland Council, you'll lead an enthusiastic team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a vibrant culture of innovation and excellence. This team supports the foundations upon which our applications run, and enable our Kaimahi to serve Aucklanders. You'll ensure high-quality standards while supporting the team embrace a journey to devops and attracting top talent to serve our community. With a strong ability to set clear performance goals and provide constructive feedback, you'll inspire your team through engaging knowledge-sharing sessions. Building strong relationships with stakeholders will be essential as you develop a strategic approach that aligns our initiatives with Auckland Council's vision and the dynamic needs of our community. Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Oversee and manage a team of infrastructure engineers - providing guidance, coaching, mentorship, and support. Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of work within the Practice and adherence to best practices. Process Improvement: Implement and optimise product management processes, methodologies, and frameworks. Talent Development: Recruit, hire, and develop software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Performance Management: Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews for team members. Knowledge sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions and encourage continuous learning across the Practice. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Practice Strategy: Establish and maintain a practice strategy that balances the businesses current and future needs of the practice with the sourcing and talent management approach. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related experience or field. Proven experience as a Practice Manager or similar leadership role (5+ years) managing teams of greater than 30 people. Strong understanding of infrastructure design principles, including data centers, cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, and virtualization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve high performance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
