Our Contracting team is on a hunt for an experienced Power Technician to join them in Whangarei. This is a permanent full-time role with 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri).The Role:Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems and equipment within the Northpower Network. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot issues. Some other benefits include:Competitive remuneration based on experience + full-time employment of 40 hours per week + allowances + full PPE gear and equipment provided.Tool of trade company vehicle, in-house wellbeing programme, and discounted medical insurance.Working for a diverse range of customers which means variety and job security.Plenty of training and development opportunities and the opportunity to gain new skills within the industry.The opportunity to work for a purposeful, essential organisation in a critical safety role.About You:To secure this role, you'll hold a current practising licence along with strong knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice, Policies, Standards, Work Procedures, Legislative requirements, and the relevant Parts of the Safe Manual – Electricity Industry (SE-MI).Must have:Proven technical experience in high voltage zone substations environment SCADA, protection relay configuration, and testing.Demonstrated experience in underground cable testing and cable IDs.Proven experience carrying out Pre & Post Commissioning tests including testing and commissioning of Siemens and SEL relays.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and carry out As-Builts on drawings.You will also have:Relevant trade qualification(s) as required (Diploma or NZCE (or equivalent)).Minimum 5+ years of experience of testing and commissioning in MV/HV industry.Ability to work on battery banks, charger systems, multiple input protection systems, HV cables, secondary cables, HV circuit breakers, power transformers, single input protection relays, and test instruments (preferable but not essential).Ability to display initiative and willingness to be part of a team.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with basic technology knowledge.About Us:Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.
