We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Maori. This includes our mandate to promote Maori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.This solicitor role is a dynamic and challenging one. It is a great opportunity to grow your knowledge of public sector matters and to gain a solid understanding of legal matters relating to the Treaty of Waitangi, Maori Affairs legislation and te ao Maori.Te whai wahitanga | The opportunityBased in Te Tari Matua, Poneke the Solicitor provides timely, accurate high quality, robust advice to our Manager Legal Services as part of a small team of 8 kaimahi. You will be providing legal advice on a wide range of matters including:Ministerial powers and responsibilities.Legislative compliance.The review of legislation impacting Maori.Contracts and other legal documentation.Law reform initiatives, policy projects and programme initiatives.The administration of Maori Trust Boards and other legislation administered by Te Puni Kokiri.The appointment range for this role is between $86,545 and $96,161 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.Mou | About youResilient and dedicated, you are a candidate that has a passion for working with and understands the significant issues prevalent in the area of Maori Affairs.
