This is a great opportunity for someone to join our school attendance team in a full-time capacity. This exciting role is focused on supporting schools and their communities with initiatives to engage students, and their whanau, who have moderate and irregular absence patterns (i.e. 70–90% attendance).
The key tasks of this position are initiative- and project-focused, based on a developed action plan that will need regular reviewing and further development. These tasks are to be carried out in partnership with schools to achieve their attendance goals.
Applicants must:
have a sound understanding of the workings of schools and the education systembe driven and enthusiastic, with a self-starting, 'roll up your sleeves' attitudebe able to work with others and motivate positive engagementbe able to maintain a high level of confidentialitybe sensitive to, and accommodating of, cultural and individual differenceshave the ability to develop effective relationships with schools and their communitieshave a strong belief in the high value of young people being engaged in educationbe able to come up with creative ideas and see them through to fruition.
