Our Medical Devices Programme Delivery Team is growing, so we are seeking experienced, passionate people who will help take our team to the next level.
In this rewarding and challenging role, you will provide high quality specialist strategic and pragmatic advice utilising matauranga Maori and kaupapa Maori frameworks to realise better outcomes for Maori and all New Zealanders.
This includes by guiding and supporting the development and implementation of the Medical Devices Programme of work to ensure it meets accountabilities regarding te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora. The role will also entail stakeholder engagement, with a key focus on Maori stakeholders, and therefore ensuring this is undertaken in the context of te ao Maori concepts.
The role sits within our Medical Devices Programme Delivery team in the Medical Devices Directorate which is responsible for delivering fairer access to medical devices for all New Zealanders by applying the Pharmac Management Model to hospital medical devices. This role will also work in close partnership with the Maori Directorate.
The work that Pharmac is doing will mean that the hospital medical devices Te Whatu Ora hospitals purchase are available in a nationally consistent and equitable way - improving health outcomes for New Zealanders.
Our programme will help to manage New Zealand's increasing spending on hospital medical devices. By doing so, it will free up funding in hospitals to reinvest in services and new technologies.
We are taking a long-term view and aligning how we manage hospital medical devices with the wider goals of the health and disability system.
The salary range for this position is $121,365 - $182,047. The appointment range is between $136,400 - $160,471 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver Employer contribution.
We are looking for an experienced strategic advisor who has the ability to analyse information and provide robust advice and recommendations. You will be a committed and skilled stakeholder manager. You will use your highly developed influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills and experience to build and maintain important relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Extensive experience advising senior leaders and organisations in the application of te Tiriti o Waitangi. Experience of this within the health sector would be an advantage. Able to provide a strong understanding of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022 in relation to the work of Te Pataka Whaioranga Pharmac and Maori health equity. Experience in working with Maori, providing advice from a te ao Maori lens and about the aspirations and needs of Maori An ability to successfully build and maintain trust-based relationships across all levels and across networks of relevant organisations that are maintained if/when officials change. Strong strategic and systems thinking skills - able to analyse information, quickly develop an understanding of context in relation to the insights required and provide strategic advice. The role has a level of autonomy and applicants will need to be self-driven to manage time-pressured work but also need to work as part of a team. You will be part of the Medical Devices Programme Delivery team and supported to learn and succeed in our fast paced and dynamic workplace.
